What effect does a geographic location of a school have on your ability to pass a bar in a different state?

What effect does a geographic location of a school have on your ability to pass a bar in a different state?
I am in Pennsylvania and I have heard there are many law schools here which "export" lawyers all over the East Coast. A. Does this mean that finding a job here would be too competitive, if there are a disproportionate number of law students in the area? Ideally, I want to stay in Philadelphia. B. Do schools train for a particular bar exam? Will a PA school train me for the PA bar? C. Is there a type of federal law training you can get and a bar exam for that? Do you also have to have state licensing? What sort of jobs are there in federal law? Here, we have branches of the Federal Reserve, and probably other federal offices.

A. It means that because attorney jobs are so scarce people will move to another state in order to get a job in their profession. For those who get attorney jobs in a Federal agency, their home office may be in another location. It is not unusual for law students to come to a big city for their education and then go back home to practice law. The law schools in larger cities have the advantage of being closer to the courts and therefore closer to law firms who hire. Getting an attorney job in any major market (big city, concentrations of courts) is competitive. Law school is competitive. B. The Bar Exam is made up of 2 parts. One is general or multi state and the other one is specific for your state. The vast majority of law school class are taught in generalities -- or more multi state. Some classes in law school will be directed at your state's laws. Remember law school classes teach the history of the law, the theory of the law, how past cases (sometimes back to the 1800s) have influenced the law. They do not teach you how to actually practice the law. You will probably not even know how to file a law suit when you graduate. C. Law school classes will teach you the federal law. Some law topics such as securities law, employment law, patent law rely very heavily on Federal laws. There are also other subjects that only rely on state law. You will probably take a Bar Review course after graduation from Law School and before taking the Bar Exam. The majority of people do. These classes will prepare you for the bar exam. After passing the bar exam you will have a license to practice law in that one state. If you want to be licensed in other states you will be required to take additional state bar exams. Should I go to University of Pennsylvania or University of Washington for nursing??

Should I go to University of Pennsylvania or University of Washington for nursing??
I got accepted at both the University of Washington in Seattle and the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. I am going to major in nursing, but I don't know what school I want to go to yet. I just want some opinions because I am trying to compare the pro's and con's of both. I like Upenn because of the nursing program, and of course it's an Ivy League school so that's cool, but I don't like Philadelphia and it's really far away from my home in California I like Washington because its in a place I love, it's closer to home, it's a bigger school which would be more fun, and its cheaper... but the nursing program is only 2 years (vs. 4 years) They're both nationally accredited, the top two nursing schools in the nation Any opinions??

I think that's a pretty easy decision. Penn.

Hi! I am a junior in high school and I really want to go to UPenn... I also live in California so I'm also worried about the distance, but at the end of the day, it is an Ivy League school and, let's face it, saying "I graduated from UPenn" holds more prestige than saying the same about Washington. But in the end, the decision is truly and only yours... P.S. Can you please tell me your credentials (gpa, SAT, EC's, etc.)? I am planning to apply to UPenn Early Decision and would really appreciate the help....Thanks a lot!

That's easy: go to the University of Washington. It's a great place to go to school, a beautiful campus and you won't be a deep in debt after 4 years Looking at the U-dub website you will get the same degree - BSN (RN) From the website:("two years of prerequisite course work in general studies prior to two years of professional course work within the nursing major.") Two years of clinical experience is all you need.

Which has the best reputation Philadelphia U, La Salle u or St. Joseph's u?

Which has the best reputation Philadelphia U, La Salle u or St. Joseph's u?
Or which has the worst reputation? I want to apply to one city school in Pennsylvania. I've seen Drexel on lists for least beautiful campus and least helpful teachers. I also heard Temple is in a bad neighborhood.

...I really wouldn't be picking your colleges based off of the princeton review lists. I go to drex and I can tell you that it has a better rep than both those schools. Yeah, the campus isn't the most beautiful... but its def. not the ugliest... theyve been doing shitloads of construction cleanin the place up and makin new buildings. Its a city school so like youre not going to see too many giant rolling green hills... but theres tree lined streets, some pretty cool new buildings, and a new park thatll be done next year. Also... the teachers are plenty helpful if you make an effort. The professors are knowledgable and well trained and I haven't run into one that hasn't helped when I needed it. Drexel gets its bad rep because it tends to be lenient and accept students that aren't ready for the rigorous course load. they have a policy of giving people a chance even if they don't have perfect grades comin into college. So those people tend to fall behind because theyre not babied every step of the way. But its very reputable and you graduate with 3 years co-op experience which employers love. Temple is good too. Just don't wander into the ghetto and youll be fine like everyone else.

Fashion Design programs in Pennsylvania?

Fashion Design programs in Pennsylvania?
I live in South Central Pennsylvania (very close to the border of Maryland), and I am interested in going to school for Fashion Design (not fashion marketing or merchandising). It seems all of my searches for schools that offer this program bring up the same list: The Art Institute, Moore College, Drexel University, UArts, and some other technical institutes that don't even offer Fashion Design. Does anyone know of anyone schools in Pennsylvania that offer a Fashion Design program? Northern Maryland and POSSIBLY Western Jersey are possibilities for me, too. I'd like to commute, but I understand that may not be possible. Also, as I've already spent quite a bit of money on school, I really am looking for an affordable option. So far it seems that only the Art Institute of Philadelphia (which would cost $43,000 for just two years!) is the least expensive option I've found. Anyway, mostly I'm just looking for schools at this point. Thanks in advance!

HELP! Private, nonsectarian (NOT christian) boarding/private schools in Florida or Pennsylvania?

HELP! Private, nonsectarian (NOT christian) boarding/private schools in Florida or Pennsylvania?
I want to go to a private school so much. i have been to public school for 7 years and now I am in homeschool. I found out in 6th grade that public school really sucks. I live in Florida so, I want to find a boarding/private school here. Boarding school can be anywhere but, a private school has to be kissimmee/st.cloud area. I also need the school to offer financial aid. Also, if you know any private/boarding schools in Pennsylvania that offer financial aid (NOT NEAR PHILADELPHIA OR HERSHEY.) I might move to PA so......

There are 3 schools in Florida that fit your criterion (non-denominational): Admiral Farragut Academy (which is a military-prep academy in St. Petersburg), The Bolles School in Jacksonville, and Florida Air Academy (also a military-prep school). There are only 2 other boarding schools in Florida (which are denominational): Montverde Academy in Montverde and St. Andrew's in Boca Raton. So not a lot of choices. Each school's financial aid policy will vary, you will need to look this up by going to the school's website and looking under "Admissions" where there will be information on tuition and financial aid. In Pennsylvania, you have more choices. Grier, Hill, Kiski, Linden Hall (all girls), Mercersburg, Perkiomen, Phelps, Solebury, and Wyoming Seminary (in Kingston, PA). The Hill School is the most prestigious and academic of all of them. Boarding School Review is a great search tool, look up the boarding schools you want to go to and you will be provided with a great deal of information, including student reviews. http://www.boardingschoolreview.com/ Best of luck.

You would need to major in Psychology with a focus in either Child Psychology or Adolescent Psychology. Oh yeah, one thing...Psychiatrist indicates a medical doctor, so you would need to go to medical school for this. The rest of my answer discusses becoming a Psychologist. As for good schools in Pennsylvania, I'm not sure, that is research that you will have to do. Just make sure that they are accredited, otherwise your degree means absolutely nothing. Also, to do any sort of work in the field of psychology, you must attain at least a Master's degree in Psychology. I hope this helps!

Every liberal arts college in the country will have a Psychology major, (which is not the best major to have to get you into medical school to become a Psychiatrist). Those folks who get into medical school major in Biology or Chemistry or sometimes other "hard science" majors. I'm not saying it's impossible to get into med school by majoring in psychology, but you will be taking all those courses anyway for admission and the psychology courses required for a psycholgy major may not nec are needed or wanted and it will just take you longer. Look at the medical schools admission policy for more details. You want to go to college as a pre-med major. Go to the college you can attend with the LEAST amount of student debt. This will likely be the one closest to your house so you can live at home. Save your money for med school. You are gonna need it!!! When you look up Psychiatrist in the Occupational Outlook Handbook it says: See Physicians and Surgeons here; http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos074.htm

Philadelphia is in the 19 zone. Carlisle is in the 17 zone. It's not like someone at the post office is going to make a special trip from Carlisle with your item. It goes through the normal channels and will probably go through about 5 post offices on the way. It may or may not get there tomorrow. I used to live in the 18 zone and 1 mile away was the 17 zone. If I sent a letter one mile away, it went 200 miles and through 6 post offices to get to its destination.
