why don't Pennsylvania have winter break for students in high school in the month Feb when in NY they do?
I used to live in NY and they always have winter break in the month Feb.Right now i live in philadelphia and they don't have it but my friends in NY have it right now

Pa kids get it in December cuz it's when everyone is celebrating xmas, Hanukkah, ect. College kids get spring break in March...WOO HOO.

No. Bartending is best learned through experience. School will help but most bars want someone with experience.

There is no such thing as a licensed bartender. So you don't HAVE to go to school for it. Although, when I finished my classes I got an Alcohol Awareness ID, which helps establishments lower their liability insurance rates (which they like). I just finished school here in Orlando and I loved it. Yes, bars and restaurants prefer experience...but how do you GET the experience?? The school will help you get some of the basics down and many offer job placement assistance. This doesn't mean that they will hand you a job, it means they will give you leads (addresses, phone numbers, and contacts in establishments) and it's up to YOU to get the job. Unfortunately, my school doesn't have a location in PA. Google bartending schools in your area, and don't commit to one until you've checked it out! There are 2 major bartending schools here in Orlando, the one I went to was good, while the other has a lesser reputation. Do your research and HAVE FUN!

I go to school at the University of Philadelphia, and as far as I can tell, there is no rule against using a hookah pipe as long as it is for legal purposes. Does this use conflict with any Philadelphia or Pennsylvania laws? Or as long as we are smoking shisha tobacco, it is ok? First of all. I am on probation for drug possession... second of all.. your making stoners look like assholes.

Does anyone know a type of transportation (other than the city bus) that'll take students to school that is about an hour away? Only in SE Pennsylvania cities like Bethlehem, Philadelphia, Abington, etc.

I take the train to school in the morning from Philadelphia (30th street station) to Paoli. Check to see if your school has a train relatively close to it. I could help you more if I knew where you were coming from and where you needed to be.

Anyone in Pennsylvania near Philadelphia have a telescope I can have?
It's for a school project for my child and we just can't afford one right now.. Anyone have an old one we can use for her class? Thanks..I will try craig list...any help is greatly appreciated because I think I got myself in over my head here.. I promised a class of 15 handicapped children I would get them a telescope then got hurt and now I can't deliver but I'm not beat yet.. Like I said thanks.

You might want to try www.craigslist.org.People are always giving away things on that site. You can also post a wanted ad for free.

You can make your own --- go to the lending library. And Corning Glass Center in Corning, New York will donate the lenses, they did it for me when I built one as a kid.

You may also want to try the freecycle groups (find a group: www.freecycle.org). There are groups in Philly and also in the surrounding counties. Good luck!
